Youth & Leadership Development
Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ), Warangal, is committed to preparing children and young people as Agents of Change through strong community ownership and participation. At present, DBNJ has facilitated and strengthened 20 Local Action Communities (LACs) across vulnerable and marginalized areas of the Warangal tri-cities. These LACs provide structured platforms where children, adolescents, youth, parents, and community members work together to address issues related to child rights, protection, education, and wellbeing.
Each LAC brings together like-minded community members and local leaders, including parents, youth volunteers, women’s groups, auto drivers, street vendors, daily wage labourers, teachers, and community influencers. With guidance from DBNJ, these groups identify local child-related challenges, plan collective actions, and support prevention, early identification, and timely referrals of children at risk.
Through child clubs, Adolescent Parliaments, and youth groups, children and young people are empowered to actively participate in LAC activities as peer leaders and change makers. They engage in awareness campaigns, community monitoring, and advocacy initiatives, gaining leadership skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility towards their communities.
DBNJ aims to identify and form additional LACs in newly emerging and underserved vulnerable areas, expanding the network of caring and protective communities. By replicating this community-led model from one slum or settlement to another, DBNJ envisions a growing movement of empowered communities contributing to a Child-Friendly Warangal and the long-term transformation of the district.
