Education Support
Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ), Warangal, operates 20 community tuition centres across the marginalized areas of the Warangal tri-cities, reaching children living in highly vulnerable settlements. Warangal city is estimated to have over 183 slums, where children from migrant, labour, and urban poor families face serious barriers to education. These tuition centres provide regular academic support, a safe learning space, and personal attention to children who otherwise lack access to quality learning environments.
To address the issue of out-of-school children, DBNJ has identified children who have dropped out or never enrolled in school and runs two bridge education programmes in parallel. One bridge school supports children from Budgajangallu families, where most livelihoods are linked to rag picking. The second bridge school operates in Enumamula area, Asia’s second-largest market, catering to children from migrant communities engaged in daily wage labour. These bridge schools focus on basic literacy, numeracy, and school readiness, enabling children to transition into formal schooling.
DBNJ also focuses on preventing school dropouts by identifying and mapping children at risk in vulnerable communities. Through child clubs, parent awareness programmes, and continuous community engagement, children are supported to stay in school. Regular follow-ups with families and community leaders help address issues such as irregular attendance, child labour, and migration-related disruptions, ensuring sustained school retention.
In addition, DBNJ works with youth at risk by identifying their needs and supporting their personal and educational development. Youth are guided towards open schooling for 10th and Intermediate education, while life skills training helps build confidence, decision-making abilities, and employability. DBNJ also facilitates pathways for skill development and better livelihoods, while encouraging youth clubs to promote leadership, community participation, and positive social engagement.
